Does the Designer or Brand Matter?

Yes—but a recognizable name isn't the only thing that determines value.

Furniture by desirable designers, brands and manufacturers can command strong resale interest, particularly when the piece is authentic, in good condition and representative of the maker's best work.

Construction quality, materials, age, provenance, scale, color and current design trends can also affect demand. Even pieces without a famous name may be highly desirable when the design and quality are exceptional.

Consignment vs. Estate Sale or Auction

Consignment isn't automatically the best choice for every piece.

A desirable sofa, dining table, case piece or pair of chairs may benefit from the exposure and presentation of a curated furniture showroom. A particularly rare piece, important design object or valuable collection may be better suited to auction. For ordinary items that need to be sold quickly, an online or in-person estate sale may be the more efficient solution for some of the contents.

The process begins with photographs and basic information about the pieces you'd like us to consider. Our team reviews the furniture for quality, condition, style and resale potential.

Accepted pieces are priced based on our knowledge of the local and national resale market and presented in The Refind Room's curated St. Louis showroom, where we've been connecting exceptional furnishings with new owners since 2012.

Our consignment split is a straightforward 50/50, with no hidden fees and no automatic markdown schedule.

What If You're Selling More Than a Few Pieces?

If you're selling multiple rooms of furniture, a full or partial home, or a significant collection, you don't need to photograph and submit every piece individually.
